Darwin Day 2009

Tomorrow, 12th February, is Darwin Day. As it happens, this is the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth (and "On the Origin of Species" was published 150 years ago in 24 November 1859). Sadly there are no dawin Day evnts in Adelaide, but there are in several other Australian cities. Use this events page, with its interactive map, to find them.

To get you started, try reading this essay by my mate John (and this one as well).

Although there's nothing listed for Canberra, there's a Darwin symposium at the National Museum on Feb 26 (free, but you need to register by ringing them).

Today, on the 200th anniversary of the birth Charles Robert Darwin, New Papyrus will celebrate the legacy of one of the greatest scientist in the history of humanity with direct links to YouTube episodes of the classic BBC biographical miniseries, 'the Voyage of Charles Darwin'. Its a magnificent journey aboard the HMS Beagle, a journey, of course, which later helped Darwin develop his theory of evolution through natural selection.

Happy Darwin Day!
